REQUIRED MARIJUANA TRAINING

On July 1, 2017 the State of Nevada approved the sale of legal marijuana (Cannabis) . The Department of Taxation was given the responsibility to oversee this growing industry and develop regulations to control this product for sale to the public.

Regulation 092-17 (NAC 453D) was imposed on the industry and Section 111, sub (3) applies to the security requirements. As part of that Regulation, security training in a class room setting and onsite training for an 8 hour period was mandated. If a business didn't have a dedicated Security Director one could be appointed, such as the owner. This training applies to the designated Director of Security for the facility and its employees. This individual must follow the Regulation and ensuring and overseeing training of employees and maintain records etc.

Training requirements under Section 111, Sub (3) as follows:

  • Theft Prevention
  • Emergency Response
  • Use of Force
  • CPR/First Aid (Not provided by Elite Security)
  • Crime Scene Protection
  • Access Control

This regulation also applies to contract security providers that at least one employee, of the security company such as the manager or the employees of the security company hired by the marijuana establishment must or shall obtain the above training.
